Before you head out to hunt, please review the rules and permit requirements. Along with the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/miottawa.org\/parks\/rules\/\">general park property rules<\/a>, hunters must comply with the following:<\/p>\n<div class=\"large-6 medium-6 columns\">\n<ul class=\"styled\">\n<li><span>\u00a0<\/span>All hunters must follow the laws of the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/dnr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Michigan Department of Natural Resources<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0<\/span>Trapping is not allowed.<\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0<\/span>Target practice or paint ball shooting is not allowed.<\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0<\/span>Hunters must maintain a 30-yard distance from property lines.\u00a0 Property lines are marked with red stakes.<\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0<\/span>Hunting is not allowed within 450 feet of any occupied building.<\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0<\/span>Motorized vehicles are not allowed except in designated parking areas.<\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0<\/span>Cutting of trees or branches to create shooting lanes is not allowed.<\/li>\n<li><span>\u00a0<\/span>Gathering of dead materials found on the ground to construct blinds is not allowed.<\/li>\n<li>Tree stands and type 1 ground blinds may be used per state laws. Lottery drawings are held prior to the hunting periods at each of these sites. Hunters may apply for each of the lotteries, but may submit only one application for each; duplicate entries results in removal from the lottery process. Please click on the plus sign for more information about each hunt and the application link.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_id=&#8221;waterfowl&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Waterfowl Hunting<\/h3>\n<div id=\"x5esso-accordion\" role=\"region\" data-tab-content=\"\" aria-labelledby=\"x5esso-accordion-label\" aria-hidden=\"false\">\n<p>Crockery Creek Natural Area is open to waterfowl hunting by <a href=\"https:\/\/miottawacountyweb.myvscloud.com\/webtrac\/web\/iteminfo.html?Module=AR&amp;FMID=1124631\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">special permit<\/a> only. At this time, there is no lottery for this hunt. Section 11.1 of these rules and regulations requires prior written permission to hunt game at any Park including Crockery Creek Natural Area.\u00a0 By submitting an application to the Park Commission, you are requesting permission to hunt waterfowl at Crockery Creek Natural Area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Regulations for Waterfowl Hunting at Crockery Creek:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Michigan DNR rules, regulations, license requirements, seasons, or laws concerning the hunting of waterfowl must be strictly adhered to.<\/li>\n<li>It is your responsibility to obtain hunting permission for other adjacent landowners when or if required by DNR rules.<\/li>\n<li>Hunters may only access the park via watercraft from the Grand River or Crockery Creek.\u00a0 You may not park a vehicle in the Park or along an adjacent roadway and walk into the park.<\/li>\n<li>You must either hunt from your boat or within 15 feet of the stream bank or water\u2019s edge along the Grand River, Crockery Creek or connected wetlands\/ flooded areas.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the park clean and pick up after yourself including shell casings.<\/li>\n<li>You may have a dog off leash for the purpose of retrieving waterfowl only.\u00a0 Your dog must be under your control at all times.<\/li>\n<li>You may be within the park\u2019s boundaries outside of regular park hours but only between the hours of 5am and 10pm.<\/li>\n<li>A separate permit is required to take any other game than waterfowl, and the only other permits currently being issued at Crockery Creek are issued via the archery deer hunt lottery.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/miottawacountyweb.myvscloud.com\/webtrac\/web\/iteminfo.html?Module=AR&amp;FMID=1124631\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply for Waterfowl Hunting Permit<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text module_id=&#8221;archery&#8221; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>Archery Deer Hunting<\/h3>\n<p>Crockery Creek Natural Area, Upper Macatawa Natural Area, and Stearns Creek are open to archery deer hunting each fall by special permit only, during specific periods by lottery-chosen hunters. The parks remain open for hiking, fishing, and other recreational uses during the hunting season. Special hunting <a href=\"https:\/\/miottawa.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Lottery-Deer-Hunt-Rules.pdf\">rules and regulations<\/a> are in effect for these hunts; please review before you apply.<\/p>\n<h4>Archery Deer Hunting Season Dates<\/h4>\n<table style=\"border-collapse: collapse; width: 100%;\" border=\"1\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">Fall<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">October 15, 2025 &#8211; November 15, 2025<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\">Winter<\/td>\n<td style=\"width: 50%;\"><span>December 1, 2025 &#8211; January 1, 2026<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>Application &amp; Lottery Drawing<\/h4>\n<p>The online application will open on August 4, 2025, and must be completed by August 31, 2025. Hunters may only apply once. Hunters whose names appear on more than one application will be disqualified. 10 applicants will be selected for each archery location per season. All applicants will be notified of lottery results by e-mail in September. Hunters selected to receive a permit (either season) will be required to do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete and return a liability release form (will be sent by e-mail to those selected).<\/li>\n<li>Pay the permit fee of $20 to the parks office.<\/li>\n<li>Read and agree to follow the rules for the hunt.<\/li>\n<li>Minors under the age of 18 may not apply for the lottery, however lottery winners may bring one minor hunting with them. Both the permit holder and the minor must have a copy of permit in their possession while hunting.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/ottawacounty.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_bkMCGh1IdTaiMxU\">Complete a post-season survey<\/a>.
